About Us
Who are the people behind Paruzal?
We are a couple who started playing escape rooms together in the summer of 2014 and quickly got addicted, playing more than 100 of them before launching Paruzal. We’ve played everything from simple lock-only rooms to sensor-based rooms, and even a few VR rooms, not to mention tabletop escape room games, card-based games, and podcast escape rooms.
The same year we discovered escape rooms, we decided that simply sitting across a table to hand each other Christmas gifts could be more exciting. That year, we began making puzzles out of the gift-giving process. At first, it was simple close-up pictures of things around the house which took the recipient from kitchen to living room to behind the bookshelf, and so on. Subsequent years got even crazier. In 2015, I had to melt a clue out of a block of ice, so for 2016, I made sure she had to run a key along a string that stretched the length of our apartment, out a window, down a few floors, and wrapped around a tree in the backyard. Things progressed until Christmas 2019, when we each wrote game scripts for the other one, describing a fictional environment for the other one to escape from. This is what ultimately became Paruzal.
We had so much fun writing and playing these imagination-based games for each other in 2019, that we decide to open the opportunity for the public to play our games, too. Escape rooms are a great way to exercise the ol’ gray matter, especially in the games we write. Paruzal games are not confined by things like prop budgets, square footage, or even gravity, so come see what makes our games so magical.
